Customized Application Software Development
RGBSI develops highly customized applications for our clients to improve efficiency in their business processes.
RGBSI uses Global Technology Centers (GTC) in India (Bangalore and Hyderabad) to develop and deliver high tech,
cost effective solutions that serve the needs of our clients and also allows them to stay ahead of their competition and focus
on their area of expertise.
RGBSI has extensive experience developing applications using .NET framework (IIS, VB.NET/C# and MS SQL Server),
LAMP framework (Linux, Apache Webserver, MySQL and PHP) or a combination of both.
RGBSI follows a methodology that is a hybrid of waterfall and rapid prototyping techniques. This methodology brings
together the best of both worlds to software application design and development. Some of the steps involved are briefly described below.
- Requirements Gathering Phase – RGBSI Personnel typically meets with client Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
to discuss the requirements for the application. This is a done through a series of workshops typically determined by the size and complexity of the project.
RGBSI provides the Requirements document template for this phase.
During this phase RGBSI will collect all the relevant requirements and also study any legacy systems already in place.
- High Level Design Phase – Using any design guidelines provided by the client, RGBSI will layout
the initial architecture of the application. Typically during this phase the application platform, server, memory and space dimensions,
database design and wire frames for front-end design will be completed
- Development and Demonstration Phase - In this phase, programmers at RGBSI’s GTC centers would begin coding the
application. Based on each application’s complexity and timeline, RGBSI would engage client personnel and demonstrate the application at various intervals
during the development phase. During this phase clients can view and make minor changes or tweaks to the application as it is being developed. This phase will give
insight to the client as the application is being developed and will not have to wait till the later stages to view and experience the application.
- System Test Phase – Once the initial requirements gathering is complete, Test specialists at RGBSI’s GTC centers will be
responsible for creating the Functional Test Cases (FTC) and Non-Functional Test Cases (nFTC). The application will be thoroughly tested during this phase and all
defects recorded, prioritized and fixed. Client personnel might be contacted to get accurate test data.
- User Test Phase – During this phase, RGBSI will provide client users access to the application so that they can test.
RGBSI will also provide clients with a defect tracking system that can be used to track and prioritize defects.
- Deployment and Maintenance Phase – Once User testing has been completed to the client’s satisfaction and signed-off,
RGBSI can deploy the application to the target environment. If RGBSI is involved in the maintenance phase of the application, RGBSI will provide a ticketing system to
the client so that defects and enhancements can be tracked and assessed for implementation.
RGBSI Software Products
RGBSI has developed various web-enabled applications targeted towards challenges faced by small to medium sized businesses.
Pro-Track is a web enabled, easy to learn, cost effective project management tool offered by RGBSI that will allow clients to track various aspects of a project.
Some of the features available are listed below:
- Create a Project – Project Managers can create and setup a project in a matter of minutes using this tool.
- Add Project Personnel – Project managers can add personnel details, their bill rates and other project
related information into the tool.
- Track Tasks – Project managers can create tasks for a project and assign personnel to these activities.
- Time Sheets – Project Personnel can enter time for each of the activities associated with them. Project Managers can track the time spent on each activity by each individual on the project.
- Expenses –Similar to time sheets, project personnel or project managers can enter expenses tied to a project. Project managers can create custom categories for each of their expenses.
- Store Project Critical Files – Pro-track will also allow Project personnel to upload and share project related files of various formats.
- Quality Feedback from Project Owners – Project Managers can setup quality surveys for their completed projects. PMs can send these surveys to
the client representatives using the Pro-track tool. The survey data will be captured in the pro-track tool and reports can be generated using the tool.
- View over 25 reports and charts – Project Managers can view over 25 reports on the fly with live data. These reports can provide a snap-shot of a project at any given point of time.
Some of the more critical reports include :
- Personnel Time Allocation Grouped By Project and Project Owners
- Expense Category Analysis by Projects
- Project Profitability Summary
Pro-Track can be purchased by clients to track internal projects. Depending on the requirements RGBSI can provide
custom features within the Pro-track tool tailored towards each customer’s requirements.
Shared Information Technology Sourcing
RGBSI provides a set of services to the small and medium business segment allowing them to outsource the daily IT
activities associated with server, database, website and custom application maintenance. Shared sourcing will allow
clients to maintain control over their physical IT infrastructure and partner with RGBSI to engage in the day-to-day
IT activities. This will allow clients to focus on their core business areas.
RGBSI has Global Technical Centers in India (Bangalore, Hyderabad) with highly qualified IT specialists to assume responsibility associated with day to day IT activities. These stages include:
- Initiation – RGBSI typically kicks off an initial meeting with Subject Matter
Experts (SMEs) from the client side to learn the various aspects of their current IT space including daily IT maintenance activities,
server activities and other activities tied to daily IT management. RGBSI will also request all documentation artifacts tied to
the existing system so that they can be studied. RGBSI will provide a check list of items to be handed over during this phase.
- Segmentation – After learning about the existing setup, RGBSI typically provides a plan for the
transitional activities related to outsourcing the daily IT activities. During this phase RGBSI personnel will also offer an overview of
how the applications or servers can be grouped together to make the transition seamless.
- System Shadowing - Typically during this phase, specialists from RGBSI GTCs will shadow the current
IT personal to study the day to day activities. Shadowing can be done both remotely as well as on-site
- Separation and Consumption –During this phase, RGBSI personnel will perform the daily IT activities
and any other minor activities with supervision from the client personnel. At this stage RGBSI should be able to assume responsibility for the various day-to-day activities
Based on the segmentation phase, additional cycles will be repeated to assume responsibility for additional applications and servers
RGBSI will provide a ticketing system that will be responsible for collecting information on defects, changes, enhancements to the current system.
Clients will have a single point of contact (SPOC) for all issues related to the sourced applications. RGBSI will also provide periodic reports on various aspects of the systems.
Data Transformation, Migration and Reporting Services
RGBSI has experience in Data Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) using tools such as DataStage and Microsoft Integration Services. Companies typically have data stored
in various locations and various formats. RGBSI offers solutions which will combine structured data from various data sources and transform them so that reports can be built using this data.
RGBSI offers templates for collecting, transforming and loading data from multiple sources into a single data warehouse.
